About iZiViD
iZiViD is a video-call app for fathers and children who live apart. You plan the call before it starts: stories, games, drawing, your own videos. Then you do those things together, live, while you talk.
Why iZiViD exists
Fathers who live apart from their children already have WhatsApp, FaceTime and Meet. Getting hold of your child is not the hard part. The hard part is the question that follows: what do we actually do together, in the twenty minutes we have?
An ordinary video call gives you talking and looking. It does not give you anything to do. So calls drift into “How was school?” and “Fine”, and a child who would happily spend an hour building something with you loses interest in ten minutes. Distance is not really the problem. Becoming a spectator in your own child’s life is.
iZiViD was built to put something in the call. Not to replace the time you would rather have in person, but to make the time you do get worth showing up for.
What makes it different from a normal video call
Most apps in this space hand you a library and let you browse it during the call. iZiViD works the other way round: the call is prepared before your child joins.
- The call is planned first. You build a Session Timeline in advance — what happens, in what order, for how long — so the time starts the moment your child arrives instead of being spent deciding what to do.
- The content is your child’s own world. The memory game can be made from your own photographs. The tic-tac-toe avatars are ones the two of you picked. The video can be the one from your last trip. It is not a stock catalogue.
- It is built for one child at a time. One-on-one by design, because that is where the relationship is.
- No advertising, on any plan. The time a father and child get together online is too short to spend any of it on advertising.
- Children never pay. One father subscribes; every child he calls joins on his account.
iZiViD runs in a web browser, and it is designed for children from about two to twelve, with the interface adapting to the age you set.
Who is building it
Danny Andreas Founder and CEO
He started building what became iZiViD in 2015, for himself: his daughter lives a thousand miles away, and no product existed that let him share his own material during a call. He rigged Skype together with Open Broadcasting Software so he could put photographs, home video and lessons on her screen, and taught her Dutch that way. iZiViD is made by iZiViD B.V., a company registered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
About the name
We pronounce iZiViD “EasyFit”. That is the company pronunciation rather than a rule for every language.
Built with outside perspectives
Since 2024, iZiViD has collaborated with students from the University of Amsterdam, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht on projects related to the development of iZiViD.
